The d&r De-Stress Routine

We’ve all had rough days, weeks, seasons, whatever. Lately my go-to has been a glass (or bottle, who am I kidding) of wine, some pizza, and a trashy reality tv show. Not only has that been sucking my brain cells dry, but it’s also got me feeling like a gross blob. I then sleep, wake up, and do it all over again. This vicious cycle not only has had my physical health shot, but my mental health has deteriorated as well. Anyone else feel me?

So I’ve challenged myself recently to start adopting a new de-stressing routine - one that does not involve alcohol, binge eating, or watching grown women scream at each other over a pair of shoes. My goal is to unplug my phone and spend time pampering myself with a little TLC. Here’s what I find myself gravitating toward the most when I’m in need of a good stress-melting session.

A Reusable H2O Bottle

Not only is water great for detoxing your body and fighting bloat, but it also works wonders on your skin. I’ve been carrying a reusable water bottle around with me everywhere and refilling it constantly. I have to pee constantly (TMI, I know), but it helps me feel hydrated and dewy all day long. My brother-in-law got me this great Contigo water bottle for Christmas a few years ago and it never leaves my side.

A Good Sudsy Bubble Bath

Whenever I’m in need of a good cry or just some peaceful alone time, the bath is the first place I go. I love sudsy bubble bath to help make me feel like a worry-free kid again while also allowing for a bit of aromatherapy to help calm me down. My latest bubble bath obsession has been the Cowshed Spa series of foaming bubble baths. The Restore one is my current fave.

An At-Home Facial Kit

Let’s be honest, no one has $200 to spend willy-nilly at a spa every week to get a facial or massage for some self-care. I opt for this at-home treatment by Drunk Elephant when I’m feeling like both my mind and my skin need a fresh start. The Facial Treatment itself feels nice and tingly while it’s on, then the oil adds a soothing layer afterwards that leaves my skin feeling refreshed and rejuvenated to tackle a turbulent week ahead.

*d&r Pro-Tip* For an extra-special spa day, put this treatment on clean, dry skin and hop in the tub. Rinse the treatment after 20 minutes with your bath water and put the oil on for maximum absorption. The steamy bath water will help your pore detox and soak up all that skincare goodness.

duncan&robyn Limitless Moisturizer

And where would a good de-stressing session end without a thick layer of our Limitless Moisturizer. I can trust that as soon as I slather good stuff on after my bath that I’ll feel instantly protected for whatever tomorrow brings. And also, it brings a lot of joy to me knowing that every time I open up a pot of this daily moisturizer I’m helping another woman to de-stress and feel her best.

And at the very least, just remember that whenever you feel stressed out or down on yourself that you are worth every ounce of happiness and joy in the world. It doesn’t matter where you come from, what your past is like, or how you messed up today - you are enough as you are.
