Dress for Success

I had first heard of Dress For Success when I was in elementary school. I would watch my mom clean out her closet twice a year to donate older professional clothes to our local Dress For Success affiliate. It wasn’t until I was much older that I realized that the Dress For Success organization offers much more than just suits for women looking for new jobs. In my time volunteering at the Portland, Oregon chapter of Dress For Success, I’ve come to learn that in addition to professional styling services, women are taught lasting and transferrable career skills such as networking, managing finances and how to work with computers. The Dress For Success organization goes above and beyond to help women who may be struggling with homelessness, addiction or even a bad relationship dig themselves out of a temporary hole to find sustainable long-lasting success in both the workplace and their personal lives. It has been a privilege working with the Dress For Success team and their clients over the past year.
